The intensive professional-level courses provide specialized training in acting and screenwriting. The classes at ACTOR PREPARES are conducted by competent in-house faculty members who passionately teach the craft through practical, theory classes, games, exercises and extensively filmed practicals. In addition, there is a roster of Bollywood celebrities, which comprises the schools visiting faculty, who share with students their invaluable on-the-job experiences and tips to success. Courses Offered
Diploma Programme

Over a period of three months, the intensive full-time professional-level course provides specialized training in acting. The students are trained in a variety of classes which broadens their knowledge of acting techniques and style. The first half of the programme concentrates on the foundations of acting, using training techniques rooted in theatre but applicable to screen acting. Students also participate in a broad array of core classes that introduce them to finding the actor within, while simultaneously training themselves to do the kind of technical, emotional, and physical work necessary for film acting.

In the second portion the core classes continue as the students’ focus intensifies on applying the techniques they have learned to more elaborate scene work and on-camera exercises— all designed to develop and hone their screen-acting ability. At several points in both sections, students are exposed to sessions and workshops with celebrity guests.

Incorporates different world renowned techniques which help in understanding, analysing and applying the craft of Acting. The module spans the history of Acting: traditional and classical modes of Acting, modern Acting i.e. method Acting / realistic form of Acting and the post-modern, i.e. contemporary methodologies, to comprehend the art of performance more efficiently.
Actor and Camera

Actor and Camera

This aspect of training is a highly technical endeavor which deals with all the technical nuances of film acting, concerning the camera. Here the students get to know the importance of the camera, camera placement, camera movement, shot division, shot taking, types of shots, the presence of the actor before the camera, the significance of the ‘mark’ vis-à-vis the camera, etc.

Yoga

The beneficial role of Yoga in shaping the body and the mind is beyond dispute. Students are introduced to Yoga at ACTOR PREPARES so that they can tap into this unique life skill to help them focus their minds on the discipline of acting.

The body is the basic tool of an actor, just as brushes & canvas are to a painter. Creative body movements are prime exercises, which are conducted in the beginning of almost every acting class. These movement classes enables one to become graceful & energetic, & makes one aware of factors like rhythm, gait, pace, tempo, gestures, postures, body language, compositions, etc. which later help one in understanding scenes more effectively.

These sessions involve experts from the film industry and other affiliated industries whose services are affiliated to that of actors. Experts such as Casting Directors, Grooming teachers, Nutritionists, Fitness Trainers etc are invited to advise the students.

These are intensive classroom exercises where various types of scenes, and the components within the scenes, are meticulously studied by observing the minutest details of classic movies.
Final Play Presentation

Final Play Presentation

Students are made to apply all the training they have learnt in a presentation at the culmination of the Diploma Program. Their performance is staged for the students’ family and friends on the final day of the course at the Actor Prepares studio.

Part Time Workshop, (Weekdays)

 

The evening Full-time course provides students the training they need while allowing them to work during the day through the work week. This programme draws together an eclectic group of people from young working professionals to international students to people who are well-established in busy careers.   All classes are geared towards providing the building blocks needed to develop their acting and dance skills. The compressed length of the course and the focused level of study needs commitment and intensive collaboration.

Acting Techniques

Acting Techniques

This module equips an actor to engage in different genres of acting including drama, comedy across a spectrum of styles;  from method to realistic to contemporary acting styles. The students are trained to perform live on stage as well as in front of the camera.
Movement

Movement

To deliver a believable performance, actors must involve their entire bodies when acting. In this module they are trained to thoroughly understand the use of posture, gestures and expressions.
Voice, Speech & Diction

Voice, Speech & Diction

Helps the students understand good vocal habits, develop their voice and voice modulation. With the help of breathing techniques, the students can strengthen their voice muscles and the importance of clarity of speech — articulation as well as expressions.

Actor and Camera

These sessions are crucial in training to be an actor. This helps an actor to thoroughly understand camera position, camera angles, actor marks etc.

Dance classes are helpful as there are many opportunities in commercials, music videos and musicals that need actors who can dance. The most important aspect in an actor’s career is a screen test or audition. Screen test training helps actors to practice the screen test / audition process in a similar casting environment and under the same expectations of time that working actors have to prepare for an audition.

Breaking down each scene, looking at how it fits into the overall story and how and why the character is in the scene is known as scene study which is an essential component of actor training.
Final Play Performance

Final Play Performance

Students are made to apply all the training they have learnt in the presentation of a play. This play is then staged for the students’ family and friends on the final day of the course .

At Actor Prepares the child is taken through the realms of acting helping them discover their own individuality, weaknesses and strengths. Children also learn to make friends and interact with others around. In the initial sessions they are taken through various exercises which will help them get comfortable with acting.

They are also taught, though games and exercises, methods to develop self confidence, indulge in creativity, enhance their imagination, learn to trust in others and develop focus in their actions. Their presentation and oratory skills will also be touched upon helping them to be better speakers.

  • Students are requested not to litter classrooms and other working areas of the Institute.
  • Audio-visual equipment used in class should not be handled by a student.
  • All the lights and fans must be switched off by the student who is the last to leave the class. All students are enjoined to conserve water and electricity in the larger interest of the society

The rules mentioned below are meant to regulate discipline in our studios.

  • Students must try and be seated in the classrooms five minutes before the scheduled time. In any case, no student will be permitted to enter the class after 5 minutes of the class going into session.
  • All mobiles and communication devices, if any will be switched off in the academic block. They can be used only in the parking area. Students violating this rule will have their phones confiscated and will be returned after the payment of a fee of Rs. 500/-
  • Use of mobile phones during class hours is prohibited. Students are requested to give the number of our Admin manager, to their parents so that for any emergency during class hours they can contact us and we will inform the students accordingly.
  • Smoking, chewing gum, chewing of pan-masala and such activities are strictly prohibited in campus.
  • Students should be dressed appropriately and decently while on premises.
  • Absence from a single class will make the student ineligible for the final play presentation.
  • Students should keep themselves abreast of day to day activities of the class and abide by all communications put up on the notice board.
  • Writing graffiti on the walls of the studios, passages, toilets, chairs and tables or any where is an act of indiscipline. Such acts will attract a fine.
  • Disrespect or discourtesy to guests, faculty and office staff will be considered as an act of indiscipline and the student concerned will be suspended from the programme.
  • Any student disturbing a class in session will be given an initial warning after which the faculty can ask the student to exit the classroom.
  • Misbehavior, habitual late coming, disobedience, absenteeism, consumption of prohibited substances in the premises, malpractices, cheating in the assessments, and other such acts unbecoming of a professional actor shall attract suspension from the programme.
  • Students are also expected to conduct themselves with propriety outside the campus. Students who get involved in public disturbances will face suspension or possible expulsion from the programme.
  • Minimum attendance of 75% and above is the prime eligibility to be awarded the Certificate.
